Odd Shot on Mondays

Even a hurricane could not keep the hummingbirds away!

(We forgot to take down the feeder Friday in anticipation of Hurricane Ike). They were busy eating during the strong winds we were still having on Saturday morning. We had to find a little humor in the midst of it all.... Visit Katney for more odd shots today.

Side note:

Thankfully, the only "real" damage we experienced was a large tree limb that broke out of our oak tree in the front yard. It missed our front porch by less than 6 inces. Having no electricity for 16 hours was a little tuff. But, after all was said and done, we were surely blessed.

The hummingbird was all about business as usual, eh? Funny fellow. I guess he didn't hear the weather forecast. Sorry about the downed limb ~ that was a close one! Glad you are unharmed.

Glad you are safe, have your electricity back and had no major damage!

That is quite an odd thing to happen -- like it might be their last meal?

Drop by and see my odd sign.

I'm glad you are OK!! I laugh at that little hummingbird. A bird's gotta eat, you know~~~
Thanks for posting. You've been in my prayers and thoughts.

Wow... I'm so glad that missed your house - AND that the hummingbirds aren't traumatized by the storm! :) After our tornado, I was amazed at how many birds and squirrels were still here... God does watch out for them!

Your hummer didn't take the nasty weather warning to heart. :) Thank the Lord all that happened was a broken tree limb. Take care.

Oh Diane, I am so glad you are OK. I have sat through the eye of a bad one in 1970. Not fun. Very scary. We had high winds all day Saturday here in central TX and our hummingbirds just kept coming too.
I am going to be OK when the soreness goes away and I get some energy back. Thank you

Hey Diane! I'm so glad you all made it through safe!
The hummingbirds hung around here, too! We had some fairly high winds with both hurricanes and it didn't seem to bother them at all. They are getting ready to migrate so there have been a LOT of them lately. I love watching them!

Thank goodness you (and the hummingbirds) are ok. I think our birds must be hitting the road to head south as I only saw one today. The evenings are now quite cool here. The fact these tiny birds survive all this is amazing to me.

BTW - you have an award at Prairie Dreams this morning! :)

Blessed for sure! I saw some little hummers out in the wind as well. They were soaked but still looking for food! Glad you're ok...

I am so glad that's the only damage experienced. I've watched on the news and have been so amazed and concerned for all the people who are displaced, whether permanently or temporarily. So glad you're well.

so glad to hear you fared well and that you were on the clean side of the storm. It has been years since I lived in Galveston and I can only image the damage there...wonder how Moody Gardens fared...so happy you didn't get much damage. Had I not been watching the weather channel, I would never have known such a big storm passed by so close, we didn't even get so much as a drop of rain.
