Odd Shots on Monday

Odd to some, but not to all~
Gazing Globes
Almost forgotten, but making it’s grand re-entrance into the world of gardening is the beautiful gazing globe. Though the reflective, colorful globe might seem "odd" to some folks, the gazing ball is rich in history and legend. The globe sports many names, depending on its use. The Garden Ball, Gazing Globe and Garden Globe are all names we call them in modern times. It’s been referred to as a Witch Ball, Butler Globe, Globe of Happiness and Victorian Ball.
If you wish to know more....go here for a full history.
Above shot taken last Friday. More shots from the wonderful Warrenton Antique Festival can be seen in the previous post! And~

Be sure and visit Katney for more odd shots!

They do look lke Christmas ornaments. How big are they? In scanning what you had posted I thought they had something to do with the garden--DH says I need myt eyes checked. Nic shot today.

They are GORGEOUS!! They only seem to come in cobalt blue on this side of the pond. I'd love one of those.

They do look odd like that. Thanks for the link - I hadn't realised they'd become so popular now.

Stunning! My favorite element is your shadowed image (holding camera), reflected from various angles in each of the balls.

Very cool and, yeah, a lot like Christmas ornaments... what a great idea to have them year around!

Very good the odd shot photograph, the reflection from the body to you you appear in every ball and otherwise!

Diane, I love your photos! I also love gazing balls. We have them in all sizes and colors here in Louisiana. I think they're gorgeous!

Interesting! I don't think I ever heard of them before. I missed you yesterday so came along today.

These are so interesting! I thought they were vintage Christmas balls at first. Love the colors!

what a great shot you got of these. I've always loved gazing balls but have never seen real antique ones -- so many all at once! Pure loveliness.
